Day: 15 (Taiping - Parit Buntar)

This morning I woke up at 2 AM and went to pick up Meng Chwen at the Taiping Railway Station. The train was about an hour late and so by the time we reached the hotel we only left with another 30 mins sleep before our 4AM wake up call. .

We left Taiping at 4:50 AM and headed straight to Kuala Gula (50 KM). The journey this morning was easy on a flat oil palm plantation.

We arrived Kuala Gula at 8:36 AM, had our breakfast then explored the fishing village. We decided not to visit the bird sanctuary because the sea was already high tide and according to the locals only during low tide that we could see more birds.

So, we decided to move on and aim for the next town, Parit Buntar. Well, we ended up spending quite some time in the fishing village and left Kuala Gula at 10:12AM

Exactly at 12:10 noon we arrived Pari Buntar (80 KM).

Day: 13 (Pantai Remis - Taiping) and Day: 14 (Taiping)

This morning we got up early at 2 AM to bid goodbye to our dear friend, Kevin Charley. He’s leaving for Beijing for another week holiday before going back to UK. On behalf of the Sun-Chaser team, we thank him so much for his support, his time and energy and we really appreciated for his commitment and contribution toward this charity event. Cheers mate! Have fun in Beijing! Our buddy, Rimson Gan fetched him to the KLIA airport.

Our destination today was to Taiping and as usual, we started our journey early, at 4.40 AM. The road condition on the first part of the journey was rather flat and half way through before we reached Terung, we came across some small hilly oil palm plantation area.

We arrived Terung at 7.05 AM. We had our breakfast at one of the road side food stalls then proceed to Kuala Terung for a short visit. Well, we saw few charcoal factories in this area, the same, too when we were in Pantai Remis. Want to know why? There were many mangrove (bakau) forest in these areas.

Day: 13 (Pantai Remis - Taiping)

Reporting from Taiping. I shall give you an update on Day 13 journey and Day 14 in Taiping as soon as I can. Very sorry! I have been very busy working on donation drive the past few days since I can get a good broadband connection. Trying my best to increase the donation figure for the four Charity Organisations whenever I can.
Don’t feel very well this evening as I can feel a little bit of heartburn and don’t feel too good on my chest. Going to get some rest now because I’ll have to wake up at 2AM and go to Taiping train station to pick up Meng Chwen, a new Sun-Chaser crew coming from KL.

Day: 12 (Lumut - Pantai Remis)

Left Lumut at 5:30 this morning. Well, for those of you who has been following our journey, I know this must has been the latest morning kick start for us, apart from the flag off day. Broom! Broom!

The reason why we have delayed our journey this morning was because we were afraid that we might have to wait for quite a long while for the turtle sanctuary to open, @ 10AM. This morning we have a new Sun-Chaser team member, Wong Ling Gau who based in Ipoh has joined us in the ride. He arrived at our hotel right after 11 o’clock last night.

As our welcome ceremony, I would normally get the most junior rider in the team, in term of duration with us in the ride, to handover the new rider our Sun-Chaser’s kit. Our kit consists of a simple towel, a pair of hand glove, jerseys, security vest, arm ‘sun-protection’ cover, socks and hat (if required) and sun-block, plus a little orientation.

Day: 11 (Pangkor Island - Lumut)

We left Pangkor Island @12.30 this afternoon. Pangkor Island Beach Resort is located nearby the Teluk Dalam jetty and there are 6 trips daily to this part of the island. Well, we are fresh and ready to go on with our journey to the North. Once again, thank you very much to Cititel Hotel Management for their kind sponsorship of our accommodation in Pangkor Island.

We stayed at the same hotel in Lumut, Hotel Indah. The very first thing I did when we arrived here was to check on my trishaw. She’s fine but a little lonely that‘s all. Both our trishaw and car were good and thanks to the hotel owner for taking care for us while we were away to Pangkor Island.

The lady boss was telling us that many people have came and took pictures with my trishaw and few even asked if it’s for hire.

Day: 10 (Pangkor Island)

We all slept very well last night. Well, to make sure that everyone of us is still healthy and fit, we have decided to go for a jog along the beach this morning. We went for a slow and easy jog at around 8 AM, and have shower before we filled our stomach with the buffet breakfast. Yummy! Yummy! I guess most of us might have put on some weigh from the past 2 days break!!!

Day: 9 (Pangkor Island)

Today we were saying goodbye to another 2 members of our crew. Ah Chen, who has been following us in this journey since the flagging off on the 6th June. Well, we will miss him a lot for sure. During this journey and within such a short time we had, not only gone through the endurance test, the sun heat plus the rain, the fun and the laughter but, the most important thing of all that we will be taking with us from this journey is that we have built a ship, a ship called ‘FRIENDSHIP’.

I am damn sure by tomorrow morning when he wakes up with his wife besides him, he’ll be thinking of the trishaw ride as he had been with us for the past 8 days. Just hope that he won’t wake up at 4 in the morning. Ha! Ha! Ah Chen who can eat well surprisingly has lost his appetite in food since yesterday, for the first time. We were joking with him that he must has missed his wife already.
