Day: 6 (Kuala Selangor - Sabak Bernam)
This morning we left Kuala Selangor at 4:50 AM after saying goodbye to Jordan and Rimson. Both of them drove back to Malacca 3 hours later after we hit the road.
The journey from Kuala Selangor to Sabak Bernam was very smooth, again on a flat land. Coconut plantation everywhere on both side of the road. This morning I took the pilot seat first, then handover to Ah Seng and Kevin. Ah Seng was the instructor and after sharing some road safety tip and everything about the trishaw, we let Kevin took the pilot seat.
He’s very stable and we were happy to let him ride solo. 2 hours after our journey we decided it’s time for breakfast. We stopped at Sekinchan, about 28km away from Kuala Selangor. We had roti canai, teh tairk and 2 half-boiled eggs each.
Then we continued with our journey at around 7.20 AM. An hour later while we were passing through Simpang Lima, we witnessed the first road accident involved a single lorry. It has turned turtle at the opposite side of the road. Judging from the road condition and the lorry’s position, we can only assume that the lorry must has carried too much load than it can handle. There were 2 policemen on scene busied helping with the traffice flow.
At 9:38 AM sharp, after 66 KM, 4 hours and 48 minutes later we arrived at the Balai Polis Sabak Bernam. As usual, we went to get our journey log time-stamped and this time we managed to get the friendly policewomen and policeman to join us for a photo shooting. They were very helpful.
While we were having a break in a coffee shop in Sabak Bernam town, suddenly we heard that there’s a fishing ‘kelong’ in a fishing village. So, we went to check it out because we are interested to go for a fishing trip and also to stay over at a fishing kelong. Cool! Unfortunately, it's too expensive and they only have 2 fishing rods available for rental for the 4 of us. So, we changed to plan ‘B’.
Then we headed back to the town centre and went to stay in a resort instead, Hay Resort N Services Sdn Bhd (a wholly Selangor state owned property). That was the best place we have stayed throughout our journey so far, knowing that we were actually staying in cheap budget hotels. The price was reasonable and that’s why we opted for it.
Well, one good thing about taking this coastal trunk road is about the food, if you like seafood. As I have previously mentioned, we have been eating very well indeed. Though we should control our colesterol levels but I pretty damn sure we are OK because we burn more energy during the day.
