Day: 8 (Lumut - Pangkor Island)
Hi ALL! We are now in Pangkor Island.
First of all, thetrishawman team would like to take this opportunity to thank Dato’ Eric Lim, the Managing Director of CHM (Cititel Hotel Management) and also Dylia Ong for their kind sponsorship of our accommodation in Pangkor Island (Pangkor Island Beach Resort) and our stay at Cititel Penang when we arrive in Penang Island.
Well, we are privileged and honored to receive such hospitality and treatment from Cititel Hotel Management. This morning we were received by Mr Jimmy Yeo, the Hotel General Manager at Lumut jetty. We took the 11 AM ferry and the boat trip took about 30 minutes only. We have left our trishaw behind and park in a hotel compound in Lumut. Wish I could take her along with me, really!
Guess what! Our hotel rooms are sea-facing of tropical charms and the swimming pool is just located right in front of our room window. We had a fantastic view from our balcony too. I don’t know how to explain the tranquility feeling of the place but you would have to come here and witness it yourself.
The Sun-Chaser team members were having a good time here and I had to remind them time and again not to expect such treatment and hospitality from me because only from here they are able to get it while the rest of the journey,… back to the same old kind of places and conditions that they used to get from me since the flag-off: budget hotel, simple, cheap and again cheap but clean. Hard to find one sometimes, I know Ha! Ha! One thing for sure, I am so glad they all can fit in into the places that I can survive into. Honestly, there was once I stayed in a hostel of USD 3 / per night when I did my backpacking in Lhasa, Tibet in 1998.
Bet you can guess spending a night here in a four star hotel, can easily accommodate the Sun-Chaser team for up to 6 or 7 days expenses and I simple cannot afford it. So, we decided to take it easy and make good use of the opportunity for us to relax and chill out, after we had been riding hard so far. Seriously, we have gone swimming many times both at sea and swimming pool since we arrived here this afternoon. They all deserve a good break, but only through sponsorship of course. Lucky for us!
Come to think about it now, bet I shouldn’t have spoilt my team members He! He He! Hope they won’t make any special request or negotiate for better deal from now on, or else I may have to ride alone all by myself. Ha! Ha! Only joking!
Uncle Robin and Ah Hock, came and visited us at Pangkor Island later in the afternoon. It was good to see Uncle Robin again. We went to Pangkor town for our dinner this evening. This is a good place for me to relax and also, for me to update my blog. Adios!
The Sun-Chaser Team: Wei Peng, Ah Seng, Kevin Charlley, Marc Yong Kheng Sai and Frankie
